  • Overview

    This position will require the ability to perform CNC machine set-up and operation. This position may also be required to create edit CNC programs.

     

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: 

    1.  Conduct all set-up and quality operations in support of machining for self and others.  Set-up and operate machines in accordance with process sheets any other required paperwork (i.e. drawings, specifications, etc.).
    2. Create, edit and/or retrieve CNC programs from system files and execute.
    3. Use Manufacturing paperwork (travelers, blueprints, sketches, etc) to:
      1. Manufacture product that meets quality requirements.  Inspect and verify work prior to submitting for inspection.  If non-conforming, process via non-conforming material procedures.
      2. Meet time and schedule standards for assigned work.
      3. Correctly process work via required paperwork and MRP system.
      4. Advise supervision of issues that arise.
    4. Perform non-CNC tasks when necessary:  non-CNC equipment operation, hand-work operations, inspections, saw-cut operations, etc.
    5. Identify set-up reduction opportunities and Lean process opportunities and communicate to supervision.
    6. Properly use the MRP system to record job information.  Assist supervision in workforce compliance with MRP reporting.  Identify issues and opportunities in meeting cost requirements of assigned work.
    7. Understanding and utilizing the following basic decision making process so quality and timely decisions will be made that are supported and understood:
      1. Understand your authority in the decision making process including involving those affected by the potential decision and those who have meaningful knowledge so they can contribute facts and opinions.
      2. Identifying and understanding the criteria for a successful decision and utilizing the help chain (Chain of Command) to communicate pertinent information.

     

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM:

    1. Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical documents and commensurate with machine operation.
    2. Organizational and time management skills.
    3. Self starter with ability to multi-task and prioritize work day/projects independently
    4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    5. Firm understanding of CNC programs to include format and editing.
    6. Ability to use various inspection gages.
    7. Basic computer knowledge

    PREFERRED:

    1. Knowledge of continuous improvement and disciplined processes and a willingness to analyze, challenge and change processes if needed to create a more efficient environment.
    2. 5 years of relevant CNC machine experience.
